Grounded in timeless Swedish design sensibilities, the Melete side chair is a uniquely-shaped, multifunctional chair that provides comfort and variability in our daily lives. The chair inspires the imagination as effortlessly as it integrates space-saving efficiency in its design – function fulfilled in its most becoming form. Melete can be customized according to individual needs, highlighting the importance of the furniture’s adaptability to the design environment. By being paired with different base options, whether stackable or star-shaped on casters, it evolves into a versatile chair with maximum flexibility. The soft curves outline the balance between functionality and aesthetics, gently blending into our everyday surroundings, from the home to public spaces. The chair’s clean lines, mid-century modern styling and Swedish design principles will make Melete a standout piece in any room. This is Keilhauer’s first collaboration with the Stockholm-based design group Afteroom.
In addition to its base, Melete is constructed from just two sculptural pieces – the backrest and seat – that join together to create a chair whose shape is welcoming and friendly. Melete’s backrest supportively curves around the user’s body, opening up into two armrests that encourage the user to sit down, relax, and stay awhile. The soft curves of Melete outline the balance between functionality and aesthetics, which are combined with a functional structure that ensures comfort and durability.
With three available heights – side, counter, and bar; five base options; and available with or without arms, the Melete chair adds elegance and customizable versatility to any element of the workspace, from offices and boardrooms to corridors and lounges.
Melete carries BIFMA LEVEL® 2 and SCS Global Services certification for Indoor Air Quality at the Indoor Advantage™ Gold level. It is manufactured in facilities that produce zero waste to landfill, and which offset 100% of electricity use with renewable energy credits.
Melete is built from the highest quality materials, is designed and manufactured to last for many years, and is supported by Keilhauer’s standard 10-year warranty. Melete’s seat and backrest is constructed from a glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene, which provides more strength than other types of plastic.
The best-selling model, Melete 83046, contains 99.82% virgin recycled content.
